Ali attended Carnegie Mellon and received his JD/MBA from the University of Houston. He is a serial entrepreneur as well as an angel investor in many start ups, as well as more mature companies. Some examples of his investments include The Thayer Hotel at the U.S Military Academy at West Point, Qomplx, Rice Nuclear Diagnostics, Yesmail, Keycafe, Majestic Research, Revival Cycles, Million Air and Bank of Houston. He is also also a Founding Judge of the Rice University Business Plan Competition, the largest of its kind in the United States. Ali’s favorite hobby is high stakes poker.
In 2010, Ali was selected by the Houston Business Journal as one of Houston’s 40 Under 40 Business Leaders.
Ali resides in Houston with his wife and 3 children.

Clay Street) for a discussion by Terry Finley, Founder and CEO of West Point Thoroughbreds, Inc., on “Winning the Kentucky Derby”.
Terry Finley is the Founder and CEO of West Point Thoroughbreds, Inc. - the largest Thoroughbred partnership management company in America. Finley grew the company from one investor and one claiming horse in 1991 to its current state of over 500 investors and more than 65 horses under management. West Point horses regularly compete in elite races including the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness, the Belmont, the Dubai World Cup, and Breeders’ Cup World Championships. West Point owns a minority interest in the 2017 Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming. West Point’s Commanding Curve finished second in the 2014 Kentucky Derby. Finley graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from West Point and earned a Masters of Science in Business Administration from Boston University. In 2014, he completed the Owner/President Management Program - a three-year executive education course at the Harvard Business School for CEOs and Executive Leaders.
